Prevention comes from the operational discipline.
Cyber hygiene includes recurring activities that keep systems and accounts safe. These are often barely visible controls, but they are crucial to preventing known vulnerabilities, compromised credentials or forgotten configurations from becoming an incident.
Areas of intervention
- updated inventory of hardware, software, services and managers;
- classification of assets by criticality and operational impact;
- patching strategy with priorities, windows and installation verification;
- hardening of exposed endpoints, servers and services;
- reduction of privileges and separation of administrative accounts;
- adoption of MFA, preferably resistant to phishing for critical access;
- configuration and control of EDR, anti-malware and local firewalls;
- essential logging, time synchronization and adequate retention;
- secure management of removable devices, remote working and disposals.
From one-off control to process
NESQ doesn't just tell you what to fix. Defines frequencies, responsibilities, exceptions and minimum indicators: patching coverage, inactive accounts, unmanaged assets, unprotected endpoints or failed backups. In this way the baseline can be maintained and verified over time.
Output
The customer receives a control matrix, recommended configurations, a remediation plan and a set of periodic checks. The measures are adapted to the technical context and operational continuity, avoiding indiscriminate changes that could compromise services.
