The continuity is not just about backups.
An organization is resilient when it knows which processes need to restart first, which systems and people they depend on, and what workarounds it can activate during an interruption. The service links data protection to business continuity and crisis management.
Activities included
- identification of essential processes and assets;
- analysis of technological, organizational and supply dependencies;
- definition or review of realistic RTOs and RPOs;
- verification of backup coverage and isolation;
- recovery sequence for identity, network, server, applications and data;
- temporary procedures for working in degraded mode;
- roles, contacts, escalations and criteria to activate the plan;
- exercises and restart tests with collection of evidence.
Results
The work produces a priority map, emergency procedures and a test program. The tests are used to measure real times, identify undocumented dependencies and verify that copies are available even when the production environment is compromised.
The plan is built together with the process managers: continuity cannot be delegated exclusively to IT, because it involves decisions, people, communications and suppliers.
